For the one who needs a safe Space

What if the places you’re looking
are too crowded to see you
in all your splendor

Where then, can you go to be known?

Go to the field where the flowers
lift their faces to the sun
and invite you to do the same

Go to the hospitals and see faces of hope and sorrow
lament and pain
breath in all of Jesus’ humanity
for his people

Go into the darkness
let her teach you to trust your instinct
to listen, to let go
so that you can reenter Light with a trusting tethered-ness

Go toward the quiet, the streams, the open air
let the vast space
embrace and fill you with peace and restoration

Now, go back
into the noise and crowds

Bring your consolation gifts
to share with those who need
a safe space.
